TURLOCK, Calif. -- Visiting Cal State Dominguez Hills helped host Cal State Stanislaus set a record for futility after taking a 56-41 win over the Warriors to give the Toros their fourth win in their past five games.  Senior Tim McGrath led all scorers with 12 points, adding 4 boards in the victory.

With the win, CSUDH improves to 5-9, 5-4 CCAA, while the Warriors drop to 8-6, 4-5 CCAA.

Both teams came out firing, with neither squad finding much success in the first 20 minutes of play as the Toros took the lead for good late in the first half after two triples and a Tim McLaurin made free throw with 2:26 left in the period, eventually entering the locker room with a 24-18 cushion.

The hosts cut the lead to two on two occasions early in the second period, before a McLaurin 3-pointer and an Amir Aguilar jumper gave CSUDH its largest lead of the game at 31-24 at the 15:38 mark.

CSUDH used that scoring surge to outscore CSUS 12-5 over the next 7 minutes, and
10-7 over the next 6 minutes to reach its largest lead of the game at 54-36, courtesy of a Michael Cox old-fashioned 3-point play.

A Stephen Faulkner bucket after a Warrior make again pushed the Toro lead to 18, before a CSUS bucket and foul shot accounted for the final scoring in the 56-41 CSUDH win.

The Warriors shot just 34.7% for the game in which they set a new scoring low for the program, surpassing the previous low of 45 set during the 1972-73 campaign.

The Toros, meanwhile, fared a little better at 40% from the field, but 3 more 3-pointers and 6 more foul shots, as well as a decisive 35-24 edge on the boards combined to pay huge dividends in the win.

McLaurin finished with 10 points and tied for game-high rebounds with 7, while Frank Monge's 9 points paced the Warrior offense.

CSUDH looks for a northern California sweep tomorrow night at Chico State, a 62-61 winner over Cal State L.A. earlier tonight.
