Dickerson Earns Shutout in 2-0 Blanking of Otters

Box Score
SEASIDE, Calif. -- Freshman Markus Dickerson posted his second shutout in the last three games after Cal State Dominguez Hills blanked host Cal State Monterey Bay, 2-0, to improve the defending national champions to 4-2-1, 3-1-1 CCAA.

Junior Tyler Petry got the Toros on the board after taking a Diego Turoldo feed at 18:36, and lofting his shot over CSUMB keeper Eric Gulczynski for the early lead.

That's where the game remained until late in the second half when Marco Pulido notched his first goal of 2009 and third overall in Cardinal and Gold, all but putting the game away at the 73:51 mark.

Dickerson and the Toro defense did the rest, limiting the hosts to just 5 shots after the break, all the shots they would render in the contest.

A physical game, the two teams combined for 30 whistles and four cautions, including three on the Otters.

The Toros continue their CCAA road play on Wednesday as the travel up the 710 freeway to 4th-ranked Cal State L.A., with first kick set for 4:30 pm in Jesse Owens Track.
