Carlos Leyva (L) and Jon Alia now stand as two of the greatest Toros' bats in the programs history
Box Score 1 | Box Score 2
Turlock, CA -- Both Carlos Leyva and Jon Alia firmly entrenched themselves in the Cal State Dominguez Hills baseball record book as Leyva belted his 90th hit of the season to set a new single-season record only to be tied by Alia in the same game. Leyva would then go on to land his 91st hit as the Toros took a series ending split at Cal State Stanislaus in a 7-3 loss and 11-2 win
.

Going 4-of-9 on the day, Leyva connected on two singles in game one, with another in game two followed by a double to promptly tie the CSUDH single-season record of 89 hits, held by Zac Cort in 2004. Leyva also increased his run total to 65, nearly enough to break the singles-season record of 69.

Leyva's record-making 90 hits was short lived as Alia would join him on the charts with 90 hits following a single of his own. In a day of hits and misses, Leyva was not content with sharing the glory as he connected with a final hit that gives him the new record at 91 hits.

In game one, the Toros were forced to play catch up in all nine innings with Paul-Michael Klingsberg knotting the first run on the board after taking a free bag and seeing home on a wild pitch.

Back in full force after much-needed healing time, Kevin Pillar went 2-of-4 on the day with a sixth inning, 1-RBI single that gave CSUDH it's second run on the day.

The Toros closed out scoring with a Alia bomb that gives him 17 on the season, two short of the single-season record.

Starting action in game one, Matt Hopps saw five complete innings, fanning the same number of batters, before handing off duties after scattering a lowly three hits.

In game two, CSUDH scored in all but two innings, starting the action off with a powerhouse four-run first frame that gave CSUDH all the edge it would need in the 11-2 win.

The host Warriors, unable to satisfy their home crowd on senior day, committed five errors in game two, however with six of CSUDH's 11 runs recorded as earned it was clearly the Toros' A-game from the plate.

The Toros belted 12 hits in the win, giving CSUS only three while CSUDH's 'pen fanned six of their batters, three from the starter David Fair's right hand to give him his third win of the season and improve his record to 3-2. Fair also held dominance at the plate, walking a sole batter and scattering three hits in five complete innings.

Now with a 34-19 overall record (23-13 CCAA), the Toros will next see action in the CCAA Baseball Championships, going in as the No. 4 seed to face No. 1 seed UC San Diego in the first game of the Tournament, May 7 at 3:00pm in Palm Springs, Calif.
