Junior Achievement and CSUDH SAAC Get "Lucky" at 2nd Annual Bowl-A-Thon

Torrance, CA -- Nearly 70 Cal State Dominguez Hills student-athletes, coaches, administrators and supporters made their way to Lucky Strike Lanes and Lounge in Torrance last Tuesday for the "2nd Annual Junior Achievement/Toro Bowl-A-Thon,” a fund-raising event sponsored by Junior Achievement to benefit Junior Achievement of Southern California and the Cal State Dominguez Hills Student-Athlete Advisory Committee (SAAC).

In another stellar pairing between the two organizations, participants sought sponsorships for their bowling extravaganza, with the tax-deductible sponsorships being split evenly between JA and CSUDH's SAAC.  In addition to the Toro bowlers, CSUDH was joined by the Doubletree Hotel Carson Civic Plaza, one of its corporate sponsors, after the hotel made its own significant contribution to the event, as well as Mariana Carlito, JA's Director of Special Events.

"It was wonderful working with the staff and students at CSUDH," begins Carlito.  "JA is fortunate to have such dedicated individuals supporting our efforts, as every contribution allows us to help mentor one more child into realizing his/her true potential."

JA Worldwide is the world's largest organization dedicated to educating students about workforce readiness, entrepreneurship and financial literacy through experiential, hands-on programs.  JA programs help prepare young people for the real world by showing them how to generate wealth and effectively manage it, how to create jobs which make their communities more robust, and how to apply entrepreneurial thinking to the workplace.  Students put these lessons into action and learn the value of contributing to their communities.

JA's unique approach allows volunteers from the community to deliver our curriculum while sharing their experiences with students.  Embodying the heart of JA, the nearly 300,000 classroom volunteers transform the key concepts of the lessons into a message that inspires and empowers students to believe in themselves, showing them they can make a difference in the world.

"The Bowl-A-Thon was a really big success, and I want to thank Junior Achievement and Lucky Strike Lanes for sponsoring such a fun time for all," begins SAAC President, CSUDH Presidential Scholar and volleyball/track and field athlete #Ashley Clark#.  "And with our being able to fundraise for both JA and SAAC, it was a success for our athletic program as a whole, and we can't wait until next year's event!"
