Flores' RBI-Single Not Enough as Toros Fall 6-1 in Game Two vs. UC San Diego

Box Score
La Jolla, CA -- Bringing in the lone run for the Toros in game two of the series against the No. 6 Tritons of UC San Diego, Candelario Flores belted a deep single to centerfield to prevent UCSD from notching a shutout to their belt. Kody Kurowski saw action in 6.1 innings to pick up the loss while fanning two of his batters.

The Toros capitalized on their only scoring opportunity, which they snatched late in the game in the eighth frame. After belting a double to deep left, John Skala would get the wheels going and take home behind Flores' RBI-single.

In the end, the Tritons took full advantage of their 12 total hits, while allowing CSUDH only six of their own. Vance Albitz would give start UCSD's run in the fourth with a double that would eventually give way to three runs, enough to finalize the loss for CSUDH at 6-1.

Overall, the Toros could not find their groove as an error would prove costly in UCSD's game-winning fourth frame.

From the hill, CSUDH's bullpen shutdown a total of three Tritons, not nearly enough as seven Toros would get sent back to the dugout, six of them from the Tritons pitcher of record, Matt Rossman. Despite the loss, Kurowski added two more batters to his strikeout count to remain a threat in the CCAA.

Aside from his RBI-single, Flores would connect on one other pitch to go 2-of-4 on the day. Scoring the lone run for CSUDH, Skala went 2-of-3 with a double.

Now with a 25-18 overall record (14-12 CCAA), the Toros will bring the action back to Carson as they host the Tritons in a twinbill tomorrow to close out the series. First pitch is set at 12 noon.
