CSUDH Salvages Split Against No. 4 and Defending National Champion Humboldt State

Game 1  Game 2

Arcata, CA -- Defending NCAA National Champion Humboldt State put a 9-0 hurt on Cal State Dominguez Hills in game one of this afternoon's twinbill, but the Toros answered with a 6-2 win in the nightcap to even the regular season series at one game apiece, with the final two games set for tomorrow morning.  Jessica Marlow belted a leadoff home run to start what would be the eventual game-winning rally in the nightcap.

After being limited to just two hits in the 5-inning opener, the Toros opened the game two scoring with four runs in the third as Marlow's blast was the first of four hits that included RBIs by Khryssi Steele, Emiley McEwen and Liz Vazquez.

The 'Jacks looked to get back into the game with a run in the fourth, but CSUDH tacked on single runs in the fifth and sixth innings to put the game away, using RBI baseknocks by McEwen and Katie Jordan in the nightcap win.

CSUDH starter Regina Farfan tossed a complete game 4-hitter, allowing two runs in redeeming herself after allowing eight hits and seven runs (three earned) in only two innings of work in the opener.

Vazquez and Kristin Tanaka paced the CSUDH offense with two hits apiece in the split.

The two teams go at it again tomorrow morning to conclude the four-game regular season series, with first pitch of game one set for 11:00 am.
