Toros Send Out Seniors in Style With 64-50 Win Over Chico State

Carson, CA -- In front of a packed crowd, the Cal State Dominguez Hills women's basketball team bid a fitting farewell to their four graduating seniors as they dominated Chico State in a 64-50 win in their last home game of the normal season. Leading the sendoff was Neka Mixon with 22 points, while senior Brittney Blankenship tallied 13 of her own.

Though falling behind to a five point deficit in the first half, Blankenship led a 13-point charge to what would become a 12-point lead at 21-9 with 4:13 left in the half. The Toros would close out the first off to made free throws from senior Aujanee Baldwin and go into the break ahead, 23-14.

The second half held much of the same as CSUDH would twice grab a 20-point lead, off a Mixon jumper and again on a Blankenship trey. Though only scoring eight in the final three minutes of play and giving the Wildcats 15, CSUDH would go on to grab the game with a final score of 64-50.

Leading on the night was Mixon with 22 points while Blankenship tallied 13 of her own. Other senior totals include Baldwin (8p, 3r), Ashley Johnson (6p, 4r) and Ennisha Kyles (2p, 2r).

Shooting 40.0% on the night, while Chico would go 33.3% gave CSUDH all the advantage it would need from the floor. The Toros also grabbed 36 boards and gave Chico only 29 on the road to victory.

Now with a record of 17-8 (12-6 CCAA), CSUDH will hit the road next week as they travel to Sonoma State on Friday, February 26th. Tip-off is set at 5:30pm.
