Women's Basketball Hangs On in Second For Third Straight Win in 60-46 Decision Over CS Stanislaus

Carson, CA -- Fighting a tough battle in the first half, the Cal State Dominguez Hills women's basketball team dominated in the second behind the shooting of Barbara Houston and Aujanee Baldwin to grab their third straight win, this time over CS Stanislaus, and improve their record to 16-8 (11-6 CCAA).

Putting two on the board first after a Neka Mixon layup, the Toros played a back-and-forth 20 minutes, at one point giving the visiting Warriors of Cal State Stanislaus a four-point lead.

Baldwin started the movement in the end of the half to propel the Toros to a 6-point lead, their biggest of the half, which would blossom into a 12-point lead at 34-22 going into the break.

The Toros never saw their lead drop below the double-digit mark in the second as a free throw from Whitney Gantt would give them their biggest lead of the night at 47-29. With 41 seconds left on the clock, a Baldwin shot from under the bucket secured the win at 60-46.

Leading on the night was the triple-threat of Baldwin with 12 points & four rebounds, Houston with 11 points & five rebounds and Ennisha Kyles, who only weeks after making her return to the hardwood knotted a double-double with 10 points and 13 boards.

The Toros shot more than well enough from the floor with a 46.0% field goal percentage on the night, besting that of the Warriors at 29.6%. CSUDH also grabbed 15 more boards finishing with 39 rebounds, while giving CSUS only 24.

Now
16-8 (11-6 CCAA), CSUDH will play host again tomorrow in their last home game of the season as they welcome the Wildcats of Chico State at 5:30 pm.  Before tipoff, the Toros will honor their four graduating seniors playing in the final regular season game of their CSUDH careers.
