NAIA No. 4 Biola Escapes Torodome With Hard-Fought Win

Ashley Clark gave her best performance yet with 10 kills and 17 digs

Carson, CA --- Sophomore Ashley Clark earned the Toros (0-4) their second team double-double in the hardest fought match of the season, but the visiting Eagles of No. 4 NAIA-ranked Biola University (9-0) were able to edge out a 25-13, 29-27, 25-22 victory in the Torodome.

After an uneventful first set in which the Toros were plagued by errors after keeping the early frame close, the Eagles pulled out a 25-13 win.

Not willing to give up another easy loss CSUDH came out strong in set two holding a consistent lead - with the turning point being a kill from Madison Horsley - through the entirety of the match until an attack error from Clark gave BU a one-point lead.

Nearly pulling a win in set two with the help of kills from Clark and Ashley Davison, the Toros eventually succumbed to more errors to take the loss at 29-27.

Set three proved just as exciting as the Toros held a 4-0 lead, but a kill from Biola's Maggie Mitchell gave the visitors the momentum they would need to stay on top in winning set three 25-22, and the match 3-0.

The Toros were led by Clark with 10 kills, followed by Horsley with 7. Rebekah Wolfgramm provided huge assistance with 17 set assists while Horsley and Clark came in defensively with respective 13 & 17 digs.

Now finished with the season-opening homestand, the Toros travel to UC San Diego to participate in the Triton Invitational, where they will first face BYU-Hawai'i on September 4, with first serve set for 6:30 pm.
