Gallauger's Double Keeps No. 7 Toros Perfect in 4-1 Win at San Francisco State

Defender Gallaugher was the offensive hero in CSUDH's 4-1 win at SFSU
Box Score
San Francisco, CA -- Junior All-American defender Kevin Gallaugher turned into an offensive juggernaut this afternoon by scoring two goals in 7th-ranked CSUDH's 4-1 win over host San Francisco State, keeping the Toros perfect at 7-0, 2-0 CCAA, while the Gators fell to 2-3-1, 0-2 CCAA.

The hosts started the scoring early as Antonio Ugarte took a Wes Whitt feed at the 8:48 mark and beat Toro keeper Miguel Benitez for a 1-0 lead.

That would be the extent of the Gator offense, however, as the high-powered Toro offense scored four unanswered goals for the win.  The deluge began just two minutes after Ugarte's score as reigning CCAA Player of the Week Kyle Holland collected a pass from Mario Guerrero and beat his defender 1v1 en route to the equalizer.

Gallaugher then took over in the 33rd minute by collecting a Brian Alvarez feed and giving the Toros the lead for good with his second goal of the season.  The two-time All-American continuted his hot foot 20 minutes into the second half by taking a Scott Mariano corner and burying his shot pass SFSU keeper Israel Cisneros for an insurance goal.

CSUDH added its final tally in the 70th minute as brothers Greg Piechota and Mike Piechota combined for the fourth Toro goal of the day, with Mike dishing to Greg, and Greg putting the proverbial final nail in the SFSU coffin.

The Toros out-shot the Gators 20-8 in the game, including a convincing 9-1 after the break, also earning an 8-3 advantage in corners.

A physical contest, 10 total yellows were issued, including two to Gator Josh Kuluris, who made his exit at the 64:34 mark, keeping SFSU down a man the rest of the contest.

CSUDH continues CCAA Conference road action on Wednesday as it travels to La Jolla to battle UC San Diego for a primetime match-up, with first kick set for 7:00 pm.
