Cross Country Season Opens at San Diego State Invite

San Diego, CA - Liliana Yera paced Cal State Dominguez Hills as its cross country team kicked off the 2008 season at the 64th annual Aztec Invitational Saturday morning at Balboa Park, finishing 60th in the 5k run in a time of 23:30.

Inez Mendoza trailed her teammate by placing 71st, with Faviola Fernandez (73rd), Dora Baldwin (74th), Monique Joseph (78th) and Latasia Gillett (82nd) rounding out the Toro runners.

Vanguard University's Rebecca Sopp led all runners in the Women's Open results, crossing the finish line in a time of 19 minutes even.

The Toros compete next week at the Cal State San Bernardino CCAA Preview Meet, set to begin at 8:00 am.
