Toros Post Personal Bests at CCAA Championships

Senior Astyne Price continued her record season

SANTA ROSA -- Running against all 11 CCAA squads, the Cal State Dominguez Hills Toros women's cross country team earned some personal bests to conclude the CCAA season.  Host Sonoma State set up a challenging yet fun course in Santa Rosa which allowed the runners to compete at their best.  Senior Astyne Price finished the 6k course in her best time of the season and 14th best time in CSUDH 6k history at 23:06.8.

Price was the top finisher among the CSUDH runners, finishing 51st at the CCAA Championships.  Her time of 23:06.8 was 11 seconds better than her previous best time which was set three weeks ago at the Pomona-Pitzer Invitational.  This marked the fifth time the Price finished first among the Toro runners out of six events.

Senior Reyna Samaniego crossed the line in 71st place and runner-up among the CSUDH runners for the fourth time this season.  Her time of 23:37.8 was not only her best of the season but also in the top 25 all-time among 6k times for CSUDH runners.  Senior Rebecca Caracoza came in nine places later in 80th in a time of 23:55.7, another season-best and top 30 all-time.

Other Toro times:
SR Lidia Ferman (84th-24:03.3), FR Gloria Flores (97th-24:46.9), FR Julia Wilson (99th-24:54.4), FR Georgina Pena (105th-25:25.4)

The Cal State Dominguez Hills Toros runners will take a week off before traveling up to Spokane, Washington, to compete against the top teams in the west region at the NCAA West Regional Championships on Saturday, October 5.
