Toros Light Up Scoreboard and No. 19 Biola University Behind Two Eric Blackwell Bombs, 24-10

Box Score
Carson, CA - The Toros failed to score in the bottom of the 1st, but made up for it by scoring at least two runs in each of the next seven innings to light up the scoreboard and NAIA's No. 19 Biola University, 24-10, behind a 5-7 day, including two homeruns by Eric Blackwell, as CSUDH set a new team record with 26 hits.

The game was decided early as CSUDH put across 7 runs in the 2nd, 2 more in the 3rd and 4th and 3 in the 5th.  For good measure, CSUDH added 6 in the 7th and 2 in the 8th.

Blackwell added a double to his two homers, scoring 4 runs and driving in 3.  All but one Toro starter got in on the offensive action, including Carlos Leyva who had 4 hits, and Candelario Flores, Kevin Pillar, Eduardo Gomez and Brian Sturgis, who all added 3 hits apiece.  Cody Puckett, who also went yard in the rout, drove in a game-high 4 runs and scored 4 times, added two base on balls and a stolen base to his stellar day.

Toro starter Jeff Phillips allowed just two earned runs in picking up the win (5-4), fanning five against just two walks while scattering 7 hits.

Nick Lindsey topped Biola with a 3-for-5 performance, with five other Eagles garnering two hits as part of their 17 on the day.  Eagle Bobby O'Neill dropped his first game of the year (3-1), giving up 11 hits and seven earned runs in just two innings of work.

The Toros host Team Mexico on Saturday for a doubleheader exhibition before finishing the regular season at Sonoma State the weekend of May 3-5.
