Toros Fall to 2007-08 CCAA Champions, Chico State, 67-50

Chico, CA - The Toros ended their 2007-08 regular season against the toughest opponent the CCAA had to offer in the recently crowned Conference Champions Chico State Wildcats, falling 67-50.  With the loss CSUDH falls to 13-14, 7-13 CCAA and remains the eighth seed heading into the CCAA tournament where they will travel back to Chico and take on the Wildcats on Tuesday, March 4, on day one of the tournament.

Chico State, ranked No. 20 in the nation and No. 2 in the West Region entering the final weekend of the regular season, improved to 24-5 overall and 17-3 in the CCAA. The Wildcats have now won 16 straight home games and 44 of their last 45 in Acker Gym. They also became the third straight Chico State team and the third team ever to reach 24 wins in a season. Only the 2005-06 team, which finished 28-3, won more than 24 games.

The Toros got 13 points from Jessica Liang and 12 points and eight rebounds from Alana Bailey. However, Chico State forced the Toros into 18 turnovers and limited them to 37-percent shooting overall, including 20-percent from 3-point range. Chico State also outrebounded the Toros 43-26.

Chico State true freshman Taylor Lydon led the attack on the glass, notching a season-high nine rebounds to go along with her season-high seven points. Christine Vest finished with seven rebounds, and Melissa Richardson had six. Jade Smith-Williams and Natasha Smith both finished with 12 points, three rebounds, and three assists.
