Toros Snap Back With 77-47 Win Over Hope International University

Ennisha Kyles added her second season double-double with 15 points and 10 rebounds

Fullerton, CA -- Getting their points on the board first and not once giving the Royals of host Hope International University a lead or even a tie, the Toros took a 77-47 win tonight as they improve their record to 4-2 overall. Claiming her second double-double of the season was Ennisha Kyles with 15 points and 10 boards, which gave the Toros the advantage they needed.

Taking a fast break down the court a minute into the first half, Neka Mixon put two on the board first for the Toros to give them a lead they would hold the rest of the night. The Toros quickly ran up the board, grabbing an even bigger lead at 23-17 when an eight-point streak -their biggest of the first half - started by two good free throws from Aujanee Baldwin secured the win.

Making a layup off a feed from Nikki Boutte, Ashley Johnson secured CSUDH the lead at 37-24 going into the break.

The Royals last saw action with a little less than a minute and a half remaining as Aundrea Hyde made her two free throws. A final push from the Toros, including a good jumper from Kayla Huckabee who saw her first action in a Toro basketball jersey tonight, gave them the easy win at 77-47, their biggest point difference this season.

Leading the way on the night was Mixon who scored 20 points and is the first Toro this season to break 100 so far with 114. Close behind her was Kyles who nabbed her second double-double with 15 points and 10 rebounds to lead CSUDH in boards. Baldwin recorded four steals to give momentum in the win.

Overall it was the Toros 54.9% field goal shooting, as opposed to HIU's 26.2% that gave them the win and improved their overall record to 4-2.

The Toros will take a 10 day break until they travel to Azusa, CA to face Azusa Pacific University on December 20, 2008. Tip-off is set at 2:30pm.
