Two Toro Runners Break 30-Minute Mark at NCAA Cross Country West Regionals

Liliana Yera led the Toros with a total time of 28:29

La Jolla, CA --- With a time of 28:29, and breaking the 30-minute mark in a 6k race for the fifth time this season, Liliana Yera led the Toros at the NCAA West Regionals hosted by UC San Diego. Sweeping the race was Chico State, which will go on to represent the CCAA at the NCAA National Championships.

Yera, who placed 139th in a field of 160 runners, was joined at the line by Dora Baldwin, who ran a time of 29:08 to narrowly break the 30-minute mark herself. Running on the campus of UC San Diego itself, CSUDH put up a good effort with Ines Mendoza nearly breaking her 6k race season best mark with an overall time of 30:55 and a 151st place finish.

Faviola Fernandez ran in a time of 31:48 and a 153rd place finish to round out the results for the Toros.

Cal State L.A. will join Chico State as they represent the women's side of cross country at the NCAA nationals to be held November 22 in Slipper Rock, Penn.
