Joshua Hopkins enters his first season as an assistant coach with the Cal State Dominguez Hills women’s basketball program in 2026-27, bringing nine seasons of collegiate coaching experience, championship success and a strong background in player development.

Hopkins joins the Toros after spending five seasons as an assistant coach with the Cal State LA women’s basketball program. In 2025-26, he helped guide Cal State LA to the first CCAA Tournament Championship in program history.

Prior to joining the Cal State LA women’s program, he spent four seasons as an assistant coach with the Golden Eagles men’s basketball program.

A former Cal State LA student-athlete, Hopkins played three seasons for the Golden Eagles and became the team’s starting shooting guard as a senior. Before Cal State LA, he competed at Mt. San Antonio College, where he was a member of the 2011-12 CCCAA State Championship team.

Hopkins earned a master's degree in Kinesiology from Cal State LA with an emphasis in Pedagogy and Physical Activity/Coaching and a master's degree in Sport Administration from Arkansas State University.

At Cal State Dominguez Hills, Hopkins will bring his commitment to relationships, preparation, accountability and student-athlete development as the Toros continue pursuing championship success.
