Entering his first season as the top assistant coach for the women’s basketball program, Stephens most recently held a similar position at Chaffey College under head coach Gary Plunkett.

Stephens day-to-day duties include overseeing recruiting for the Toros as well as running office operations and offensive team development.

Now with 11 season of coaching experience at either the collegiate or high school level, Stephens coached the Chaffey Panthers for one season after a two year stint at Chino High School in which he led the Cowgirls to a post-season appearance in his final year.

Prior to Chino, he held various coaching positions including an assistant coach for the Chaffey men’s team, McMurrary University (Texas) and Upland Christian High School where he began his coaching career as the youngest head coach in the state at age 19.

Coach Stephens has a family history in the game of basketball, Stephens’ father Chris was the head women’s coach at Chaffey for 13 seasons, taking the Panthers to the state tournament en route to becoming the winningest coach in program history. Upon graduating from Ontario High School where he lettered in basketball and baseball, Stpehens received his associate’s degree from Chaffey College and a Bachelors degree in social science from fellow CCAA-rival Cal Poly Pomona.

Stephens currently resides in Corona Del Mar with his daughter Jaeden, age 8.
