Former Cal State Dominguez Hills guard Darius Butler returns to for this fourth season as an assistant men's basketball coach at his alma mater in 2020-21.

Since trading his jersey for a suit, Butler has coached seven student-athlete to All-California Collegiate Athletic Association selections and one Freshman of the Year in Alex Garcia. Butler was also a player when the Toros began a streak of four consecutive CCAA Tournament appearances leading up to the 2019-20 season.

Butler played nearly two seasons under head coach Steve Becker from 2014-15, playing 52 games and tallying 342 points and 165 rebounds. He started half of his 28 appearances his senior season and averaged 10.6 points and 4.7 rebounds per game.

Prior to enrolling at CSUDH, Butler played at Blue Mountain Community College, where he was a second-team all-league. 

A native of Murrieta Valley, Butler played high school ball at Murrieta Valley High. Along with earning three letters and an MVP his senior season, he helped lead the Nighthawks to a CIF Championship.
