Avi Meyerson brings a valuable blend of experience to his first year as an assistant coach for the Toros men's basketball program.
He recently completed a 3-year stint at Occidental College, where the men's program advanced to back-to-back Division III Men's Basketball Championships for the first time in school history.
Prior, Meyerson was a player/coach for Lemvig Basketball Club in Denmark from 2001-03. Following his European experience, the Seattle native earned his Master's degree from Washington State University, where he also served as a graduate assistant from 2003-05.
Meyerson dedicates his summers to working some of America's top basketball camps and clinics. This past summer, he worked for Impact Basketball/Athletes Performance at the Home Depot Center, located on the campus of Cal State Dominguez Hills.
“He's a talented coach who spent some time as an assistant Washington State and Occidental,” begins Powell. “I think he's really going to add to our staff in a lot of ways. He's the academic point man for the program and has really helped with some fundamentals, so we've been lucky to have him.”
Meyerson, who lives in Culver City, enjoys spending his free time with family and friends, and is an aficionado of all sports.
