Alexis Delgado gave the Call State Dominguez Hills faithful a reward for attending the 2026 season and home opener tonight at Toro Stadium, taking a feed from
Cynthia Ramirez in the 82nd minute and sending her ball past the Westmont keeper for the game winning goal.
This is the second straight year the Toros have bested the Warriors in the season opener, with CSUDH taking last year's contest by an identical 1-0 score.
The two teams played a scoreless 45 minutes to open the tilt, with Westmont's offense rattling off seven shots compared to just two for the home team, forcing Toro starter
Berlin Alcala into making three saves.
CSUDH's midfield and defense stepped up after the break, limiting Westmont to two less shots while firing off one more of its own.
That final shot turned out to be the game-winner, with CSUDH's stout defense not allowing a Warrior shot the rest of the match.
Westmont enjoyed a 6-2 advantage in corners and an overall 12-5 edge in shots, but the Toros earned the edge in the only stat that mattered in the 1-nil win.
The Toros travel to Costa Mesa to battle Vanguard on Saturday, with first kick set for 12 noon.
