Box Score 2 HAYWARD -- Cal State Dominguez Hills saw its 13-game win streak come to a halt after dropping a pair of one-run games at No. 2 Cal State East Bay in 4-3 and 5-4 losses.
Makayla Bishop paced the Cardinal and Gold offense with two hits in each game as the Toros drop to 18-7 overall, and 0-2 in the CCAA.
Trailing 2-0 in the opener, the Toros cut their deficit in half on an
Ashley Goodale RBI single in the third inning, only to have CSUEB answer two frames later to take a 4-1 lead.
Down to its final at-bat, CSUDH had runners on 2nd and 3rd after a leadoff single by
Mireya Rico, a CSUEB error and wild pitch, setting the stage for
Savanna Kastigar, who roped a double to left to bring home both runners.
The Pios escaped the jam, however, after two strikeouts and a line out to third base to end the contest in a 4-3 decision.
Audrey Gallegos suffered the loss while fanning five batters.
In the nightcap, CSUEB put up four runs in the second inning, but were caught in the fourth after RBI singles by
Torie Au,
Audrey Gallegos,
Gaby Gandara and a Pio error, where the score remained until the Pios walked the game off in the bottom of the seventh.
Nadia Juarez took the loss despite allowing just one earned run as her defense committed two errors in the setback.
The two teams conclude their four-game series tomorrow morning, with first pitch set for an 11 am start.
