CARSON -- Cal State Dominguez Hills reversed its fortune to walk off visiting Cal State San Bernardino in a thrilling 3-2 win in the late game after the Yotes came all the way back to take a 5-4 victory in the opener after trailing 4-1 after four.
The Toros move to 24-15 overall, and 6-10 in the CCAA.
After the opening game setback, the Coyotes continued their momentum by scoring in the top of the first.
CSUDH answered with single runs in the second and third, courtesy of RBI singles by
Audrey Gallegos and
Mireya Rico (pictured), only to have CSUSB knot the game in the fifth.
In their final at-bat of regulation,
Ashley Goodale began the rally with an opposite field single down the left field line, and
Marisa Dominguez followed with a screaming triple down the right field line to send the Toro faithful home victorious.
Makayla Bishop, Goodald,
Torie Au, Gallegos and
Gaby Gandara led the offense with two hits apiece, with
Ashley Ogata tossing 5.0 innings of work to earn the win and improve to 8-2 on the year.
In the opener, the Toros built a 4-1 lead after four innings after a Dominguez 2RBI double and RBI knocks by
Michaela Meza and Bishop.
The Yotes, however, answered with four unanswered runs to escape with the win.
Bishop and Dominguez stroked two hits each as part of eight total for the Toros.
The Toros travel to No. 2 ranked Cal State San Marcos next weekend for twinbills on Thursday and Friday.
