CARSON -- Cal State Dominguez Hills erased a two-run deficit with three runs in the bottom of the ninth inning to walk off visiting Cal State East Bay in today's nightcap to salvage a split in today's doubleheader.
Quinn Johnson saved his lone hit of the game for the last hit of the nightcap for the game-winner as
Nigel Buckley (pictured) and
Alex Sepulveda both also went yard in the win.
After dropping the 8-3 opener, the Toros took a slim 3-2 lead in the nightcap after  Sepulveda's solo shot and
Ben Saitz' RBI single in the second preceded a Buckley long ball of his own.
The Pios replied with three runs in the sixth to take a 5-3 lead, and maintained that edge headling into CSUDH's last at-bat.
In that seventh inning, however, a hit-by-pitch and CSUEB error preceded a fielder's choice that moved the runners to 2nd and 3rd with one out.
Tristan Usher came through with an RBI single to center before Buckley followed suit, tying the score at 5-5.
Johnson then sent the Toro faithful home happy after lacing a double down the left field line for the walk-off.
Jake Estrada picked up the win (2-1) as Usher, Buckley and Sepulveda each knocked two hits in the win.
The opener saw East Bay take a 5-0 lead after four innings before the hosts got on the board in the sixth inning on an RBI groundout.
The Toros added a pair of runs the following inning on two sacrifice flies, but it was too little too late in the eventual 8-3 decision.
Buckley and
Zac Ragland both enjoyed two hits but the Pios connected for 16 hits and were aided by two Toro errors.
Dylan Goodrich fell to 0-4 on the year after tossing 4.0 innings of work, allowing three earned runs and fanning five.
The two teams conclude the series on Sunday, with first pitch set for 12 noon on Toro Field.
