Box Score 2 TRACY, Calif. -- Junior
Ashley Goodale continued to swing a hot bat as she went 3-for-4 with 4 RBI and 3 runs scored to lead Cal State Dominguez Hills to a 16-6 mercy run rule win over Central Washington to open day two of the CCAA/GNAC Crossover Tournament, before blanking Northwest Nazarene to run its win streak to 12.
The Toros improve to 16-5 on the year.
The Toros jumped all over CWU pitching to open their day, tagging the Wildcats for 12 runs in the first two innings of play, with
Mireya Rico,
Ava Camarena,
Gaby Gandara,
Makayla Bishop, Goodale and
Marisa Dominguez driving in nine runs on six hits, a pair of bases-loaded walks and a steal of home in the first, and Gandara, Bishop, and Goodale bringing home three more runs an inning later.
After the CWU bats awoke to the tune of six runs in their fourth-inning at-bat, the Toros answered with four in the bottom half of the inning, courtesy of four three hits, two Wildcat errors, and RBIs by Dominguez and Rico.
That was more than enough for the Toro hurlers, with
Ashley Ogata tossing the final 1.2 innings to improve to a perfect 5-0 on the year.
CSUDH continued to display its potent offense in the late game as
Dyoni Garcia began the scoring in the second with an RBI single to bring home
Savanna Kastigar for an early 1-0 lead.
That's where the score remained until the fifth when Kastigar drew a bases-loaded walk to bring home a run, setting up a
Torie Au 2RBI single and another Garcia RBI knock to make it 5-0.
With Northwest Nazarene's staff wary of the potent CSUDH bats, Bishop drew another bases-loaded walk three batters later to complete the scoring.
Nadia Juarez again went the distance to pick up the win (7-2), scattering two hits with two strikeouts.
CSUDH looks to make 13 a lucky number tomorrow morning when it faces off with St. Martin's for a 9 am first pitch.
