Edgar's Stellar Effort Pushes Toros to 51-49 Win and Weekend Sweep Over Two Top CCAA Teams

CARSON — Kylee Edgar enjoyed arguably her best game in Cardinal and Gold in leading Cal State Dominguez Hills to a thrilling 51–49 win over visiting Cal Poly Humboldt on Saturday night at the Torodome, hitting 9-of-16 shots en route to a game-high 18 points.

The Lumberjacks (12-8, 10-4 CCAA) entered the contest in fourth place in the CCAA standings and became the second team from the upper third of the league to fall to the Toros (6-13, 6-8 CCAA) this week, following CSUDH's 64–57 win over second-place Chico State on Thursday night.

Cal State Dominguez Hills led for most of the evening, building a 31–22 advantage at halftime behind Edgar's steady scoring and strong interior play. The Toros opened the game on a 15–9 first-quarter run and extended the margin in the second period despite Humboldt's defensive pressure.

Edgar was efficient throughout, adding seven rebounds, two assists, and a steal in 26 minutes. Bryanne Lopez-Wood finished with 10 points and a team-high six assists, while A'Moree Ferrel added 10 points off the bench on 4-of-8 shooting, including a pair of three-pointers. Anela Thomas provided a strong all-around effort with 11 rebounds, four points, two assists, and two steals.

The Lumberjacks chipped away in the second half, holding CSUDH to seven points in the third quarter and trimming the deficit to five entering the fourth. Humboldt pulled within one multiple times down the stretch, including at 49–48 with 3:45 remaining, but the Toros responded with a clutch jumper from Ferrel to regain a three-point cushion.

Humboldt had several chances in the final minute, but CSUDH's defense held firm, forcing contested shots and securing the final rebound as time expired.

Cal State Dominguez Hills shot 40.7 percent from the field and held Humboldt to 31.1 percent shooting, while also recording eight steals and limiting the Lumberjacks to just three assists on the night.Up next,

The Toros head to the Bay Area for a two-game road trip, beginning Thursday at San Francisco State at 5:30 p.m. The Toros earned a 78–66 win over the Gators in the teams' last meeting at the Torodome in December.
