Lopez-Wood Posts Double-Double as Toros Fall to Golden Eagles

CARSON — Cal State Dominguez Hills senior guard Bryanne Lopez-Wood recorded a double-double with 22 points and 14 rebounds, and Anela Thomas added 15 points, but Cal State LA pulled away in the third quarter to secure a 78–65 victory Saturday afternoon in CCAA women's basketball action at the Torodome.

CSUDH falls to 4–13 overall and 4–8 in CCAA play, while the Golden Eagles improve to 12–5 and 8–3 in the conference.

Cal State LA took a 19–13 lead after the first quarter and extended the margin in the second period, outscoring the Toros 20–14 to take a 39–27 advantage into halftime.

The Golden Eagles continued to build separation in the third quarter, scoring 22 points in the period and forcing six turnovers to push the lead to 61–41 entering the fourth.

Cal State Dominguez Hills outscored Cal State LA 24–17 in the final quarter but was unable to overcome the deficit. The Toros scored consistently in the paint during the period, cutting into the margin late.

Lopez-Wood finished 10-of-21 from the field and added four blocks. Thomas logged 39 minutes and contributed eight rebounds and four assists. Leilani Abraham recorded six points, three assists and four steals, while A'moree Ferrel scored seven points off the bench.

Cal State LA was led by Sofia Fidelus with a game-high 22 points. Nevaeh Asiasi posted 16 points, 10 rebounds and five assists. The Golden Eagles held a 48–46 edge in rebounds and made 17 of 25 free throws.

Cal State Dominguez Hills continues CCAA play Thursday, hosting Chico State at the Torodome. Tipoff is scheduled for 5:30 p.m.
