IRVINE, Calif. – Cal State Dominguez Hills battled back in the third set but came up short in a 3-1 loss to Concordia Irvine on Friday night at the CU Arena in the CUI/APU Tournament.
The Toros dropped the opening two sets 25-14 and 25-9 before regrouping to take the third 25-21. The Eagles, however, closed the match with a 25-16 decision in the fourth.
Bailey Fuches paced the offense with 13 kills while hitting .333 and adding nine digs. Ava Hurry followed with nine kills, six digs and three blocks, while Anna Sanzaro added four kills and two service aces. Maren Matthews chipped in four kills, and Shyla Williams posted two kills and four digs.
Setter Jaiden Mojica directed the attack with 25 assists and recorded 11 digs for her second straight double-double. Nina Robles anchored the defense with a team-high 13 digs while also contributing four assists.
As a team, the Toros finished with 34 kills, 33 assists, 49 digs and four service aces.
