AZUSA, Calif. – Cal State Dominguez Hills earned its third win of the season with a 3-1 victory over Azusa Pacific on Thursday evening at the Felix Event Center in non-conference play.
After dropping the opening set 25-20, the Toros bounced back to take the next three by scores of 25-17, 25-21 and 25-19. CSUDH finished with a .262 hitting percentage while holding the Cougars to .235.
Shyla Williams led the Toros with 16 kills on a .429 hitting clip and added seven digs. Camryn Perdue followed closely with 15 kills while hitting .591, while Bailey Fuches tallied 11 kills, 14 digs and three service aces. Anna Sanzaro chipped in seven kills, and Ava Hurry added seven kills and 10 digs.
Setter Jaiden Mojica dished out 47 assists and recorded 13 digs, while Nina Robles anchored the back row with a match-high 27 digs.
As a team, the Toros tallied 59 kills, 54 assists, 79 digs and nine service aces.
"Strong comeback by the Toros after being down Set 1. Proud of the team's resiliency to respond positively to some lineup adjustments and execute at a high level," head coach Teddi Esko said.
