Men's Basketball 2025-26 Signing Class

CARSON, Calif,.- Fresh off their remarkable run to the national championship game last season and capturing the most wins in school history, Coach Steve Becker and the reigning West Region champions have high expectations heading into the 2025–26 season.

The Toros return seven letter winners from last year's CCAA Championship team, most notably David Cheatom, whose 17-point-per-game average in the NCAA Tournament earned him a spot on the All-Tournament Team at the Elite Eight. The Toros also welcome back Za-Ontay Boothman, who returns from injury after helping lead the 2023–24 CCAA Championship team. The team will look to John Solomon to provide an interior presence this season, alongside returners Luke Lin, Tomi Adesiji, DeMorian Lowe and 7-foot Promise Madubugwu.

Josiah Sanders – 6-7, 220, G/F – Cal Poly Humboldt
11.6 PPG / 5.6 RPG / 48% FG
"Josiah was high on our priority list as soon as he decided to enter the transfer portal. At 6-foot-7, 220 pounds, he is incredibly versatile and can score inside and out. He was an absolute handful to deal with in the CCAA Tournament last March, and we're glad he is with us now. Josiah has three years of eligibility, and he is going to be one of the better players in our league."

DaSean Stevens – 6-3, 180, G – Seattle University
5 PPG / 2 RPG / 39% 3PT
"DaSean is going to have a huge impact right away. He is an elite scorer, having averaged over 20 points per game as a junior college All-American at Mt. San Jacinto, as well as producing at the Division I level at Seattle U. He has great positional size and can play both guard positions. DaSean is going to be a lead guard in this league, and we're excited to get him back home in Southern California in front of his family and friends."

Jalen Brown – 6-2, 180, G – Regis University
13.7 PPG / 3.6 RPG / 46% FG
"Jalen's speed, athleticism and strength are going to allow us to really push the ball and continue playing an exciting brand of basketball. Jalen is a selfless winner who is incredibly talented. He was an All-RMAC performer on an NCAA Tournament team last season, having averaged double figures in both of his years at Regis on strong percentages. We expect Jalen to bring his winning pedigree with him when he moves to campus in August."

Jayden Johnston – 6-5, 190, G – Chico State / St. Edward's
8.3 PPG / 3.4 RPG / 39% 3PT
"Jayden is a proven shooter with great size. He has produced at a high level in the Lone Star Conference, having made seven threes in a college basketball game while shooting 39% from three on the season. Jayden has done a lot of winning in his career at Citrus College with Brett Lauer, and with one year of eligibility remaining, we are excited to get to work with him."

JJ Mitchell – 6-7, 195, G/F – Citrus College
15 PPG / 8.5 RPG / 51% FG
"After a spectacular freshman campaign that saw him receive the 3C2A SoCal Freshman of the Year award at one of the top junior colleges in the state, JJ missed most of his sophomore season due to injury. He has an incredible motor and is a high-level athlete who makes winning plays and really competes on the glass. He's a winner, having earned two league titles and twice being named first-team all-conference. We can't wait to get him to campus."

Wesley Trevino – 6-3, 185, G – Los Alamitos High School
14 PPG / 5 RPG
"Wesley is coming off a historic season leading Los Al to a CIF-SS Division I championship. He's versatile and able to guard multiple positions, in addition to having some real grit and doing whatever the team needs of him to win. He has a chance to become a special player in our program, and we are excited he chose to stay close to home and be a Toro."

Keshrey Smith – 6-2, 175, PG – Price High School
11 PPG / 7 APG
"Keshrey is incredibly accomplished throughout his high school career, having been one of only six players in the state of California to surpass 1,000 points and 1,000 assists. K2 has led the state in assists twice and is a CIF-SS champion. He's got a bright future, and we're excited to see him develop in a Toro uniform."

The Toros begin the 2025–26 season on the road in Costa Mesa, competing in the CCAA/PacWest Challenge from Nov. 14–15, where they will face Point Loma Nazarene University and Vanguard University.
