Toros Complete Series Sweep Over Warriors with Explosive Offense

TURLOCK, Calif. – The Cal State Dominguez Hills softball team completed a dominant weekend, sweeping Stanislaus State in Saturday's doubleheader with a 7-3 win in game one and an 8-0 shutout in game two. The Toros' offense delivered 19 hits across both games, while the pitching staff kept the Warriors off balance.

The highlight of the day came from senior Kaylee Hull, who broke the program's all-time career doubles record with her 47th double in the fourth inning of game one. The record was previously held by first-year head coach Katie Garcia, who tallied 45 doubles during her career from 2007-2010.

Game 1:

Dominguez Hills jumped ahead early with two runs in the first inning. Jay Ross drove in Alexis Aguado with an RBI single before Torie Au followed with a run-scoring hit to make it 2-0.

The Warriors took advantage of errors in the third to grab a 3-2 lead, but the Toros quickly answered. In the fourth, Hull doubled down the right-field line, driving in two runs and breaking the program's all-time doubles record. Lillianna Garcia added an RBI double in the fifth, while Ross and Au each contributed run-scoring hits in the sixth to secure the 7-3 victory.

Hull finished 2-for-3 with two RBIs, while Ross, Garcia, and Au all had multi-hit performances. Alivia Holden (4-4) picked up the win in relief, tossing 2.1 scoreless innings and allowing just two hits.

Game 2:

The Toros completed the sweep with an offensive outburst in game two, scoring four runs in the second inning before tacking on four more in the fourth.

Andrea Tellez got things started with a two-run homer in the second, followed by a two-run single from Gaby Gandara. In the fourth, Ross tripled to drive in two runs, Mireya Rico doubled in another, and Gomez was hit by a pitch with the bases loaded to bring in the final run of the game.

Garcia (11-1) picked up her second win of the series, throwing 2.2 innings of scoreless relief while allowing just one hit. Ashley Ogata and Garcia combined to hold the Warriors to only four hits, securing the shutout.

Ross and Rico led the offense with extra-base hits, while Aguado reached base three times and scored twice.

The Toros (19-14, 7-9 CCAA) return home for a non-conference doubleheader against Azusa Pacific on Monday, March 24, in a makeup game from February 14. First pitch is set for 12 p.m. at Toro Diamond.
