CARSON, Calif. – The Cal State Dominguez Hills Toros put together a dominant performance in a doubleheader sweep against Western Oregon on Tuesday afternoon at Toro Diamond. The Toros took the first game in commanding fashion, winning 8-0 in five innings via the mercy rule, before completing the sweep with a 9-2 victory in Game Two. The sweep improves the Toros improve to 7-2 on the season and 4-0 at home.
In the opener, Dominguez Hills wasted no time setting the tone, plating three runs in the first inning, highlighted by an RBI double from Jay Ross and a two-run single by Kaylee Hull. The offense continued to roll, adding two runs in the third and three more in the fourth, with key contributions from Mireya Rico and Alani Nguyen. Lillianna Garcia (5-0) earned the win in the circle, tossing four scoreless innings while allowing just four hits and striking out four. Alivia Holden closed out the game with a scoreless fifth, securing the mercy-rule victory.
Game Two saw the Toros' offense stay hot, scoring in four of the first five innings. Ross and Julissa Gomez each homered, while Hull and Torie Au delivered RBI hits to keep the pressure on the Wolves. Alexis Aguado was a force at the plate and on the basepaths, finishing with two hits, three runs scored, and two stolen bases. Ashley Ogata (2-0) picked up the win, striking out seven in six innings before Ally Fuentes shut the door with a perfect seventh.
The Toros will look to build on their momentum as they prepare for their next matchup against Biola University in another double-header Friday, February 7th at 12pm and 2pm.
