CARSON, Calif. — Cal State Dominguez Hills showed fight and resilience against one of the CCAA's top teams but ultimately fell in straight sets to Cal State LA (23-25, 20-25, 29-31) Saturday evening inside the Torodome.

The Toros came out swinging, matching the Golden Eagles point-for-point in a tight opening set and forcing extended play in the third. CSUDH hit .220 as a team and recorded 46 kills on the night.

Bailey Fuches led the Toros offensively with 19 kills and a .452 hitting percentage while also adding six digs. Ava Hurry followed with nine kills, 11 digs, and two blocks, and Cassie Taylor tallied six kills and an ace. Natalia Walden-Schulz chipped in six kills on an efficient .364 clip, while Jaiden Mojica and Giovannina De Sisto combined for 37 assists. Libero Nina Robles anchored the defense with a team-high nine digs.

The Toros (8-14, 5-11 CCAA) wrap up their home schedule next weekend. They travel to Cal State East Bay on Thursday, Nov. 13, for a 5 p.m. match before returning to the Torodome for Senior Day on Saturday, Nov. 15, when they will honor 10 seniors following their match against CCAA newcomer UC Merced. First serve is set for 5 p.m.
