AZUSA, Calif. — Cal State Dominguez Hills put together its strongest offensive performance of the season Saturday evening, but a late push came up just short as the Toros fell 79–77 to Azusa Pacific inside the Felix Event Center.

CSUDH (0–5) showed impressive balance with five players scoring in double figures and a season-high 77 points, highlighted by dominant free-throw shooting and a huge night inside the paint.

Tiara Jones powered the Toros with 18 points and 6 rebounds, going an efficient 10-for-12 from the free-throw line while battling inside all night. Bryanne Lopez-Wood added 13 points, 7 rebounds, and 3 assists, providing steady two-way production in her 36 minutes. Anela Thomas matched her with 13 points, going a perfect 7-for-7 at the stripe, keeping CSUDH within striking distance late. Luvlee Sadler chipped in 8 points, and Leilani Abraham delivered a strong all-around outing with 10 points and a team-high 8 rebounds.

After trailing at halftime, CSUDH surged back with a 24-point third quarter, cutting the deficit to single digits and setting up a tight finish. The Toros continued to attack in the fourth, outscoring Azusa Pacific 22–16 in the final frame, but the comeback came up just shy in the closing seconds.

CSUDH dominated at the free-throw line, shooting 30-for-36 (83%), and won the rebounding battle on the offensive glass with 12 offensive boards.

The Toros now turn their attention to conference play, looking to build on tonight's strong offensive performance as CCAA action begins next week.
