Carson, Calif.,- Cal State Dominguez Hills opened its 2025-26 home schedule Tuesday evening inside the Torodome, battling throughout before falling 86-80 to Biola University.
The Toros were led by veteran guard David Cheatom, who delivered a team-high 24 points on 7-for-13 shooting, including two 3-pointers while going 8-for-10 at the foul line. DaSean Stevens followed with 23 points, knocking down four threes and adding five rebounds, four assists and a steal in 34 minutes of action. Jalen Brown added 12 points, four rebounds and three assists, while Josiah Sanders chipped in 12 points and three rebounds.
CSUDH kept the game tight from start to finish, shooting 38.2 percent from 3-point range and converting 15 of its 20 free throws. The Toros also saw quality production from their bench, including nine points and six rebounds from Jayden Johnston.
The matchup marked the first home contest for Dominguez Hills since its historic national runner-up campaign last season. The Toros continue to feature a strong core of returners, including Cheatom, Stevens, Luke Lin, Tomi Adesiji, Promise Madubugwu, Za-Ontay Boothman and John Solomon, who all contributed in the opener.

CSUDH will now turn its attention to a major early-season test as the Toros travel to Hilo, Hawaii for the Southwest Airlines Big Island Invitational. Dominguez Hills will take on Hawaii Hilo next week in its first game of the tournament.
