CARSON, Calif. – Cal State Dominguez Hills thrilled the Torodome crowd Friday night, outlasting Chico State in five sets to claim a 3-2 victory in CCAA play.
The Toros dominated the opening set 25-11 before the Wildcats evened the match with a 25-15 decision in the second. CSUDH responded with a 25-22 win in the third, but Chico State forced a fifth with a 25-19 result in the fourth. In the decisive set, the Toros surged late to seal a 15-10 victory.
Ava Hurry led the balanced attack with 14 kills, 17 digs and two blocks. Cassie Taylor followed with 10 kills, seven digs and two blocks, while Bailey Fuches chipped in 11 kills and four block assists. Camryn Perdue was steady with six kills and a team-high seven blocks, while Anna Sanzaro added five kills and five service aces.
Setters Jaiden Mojica and Giovannina De Sisto combined for 37 assists, with Mojica tallying 23 assists, 12 digs and two aces, and De Sisto adding 14 assists, four digs and two aces. Libero Nina Robles anchored the defense with a match-high 26 digs.
As a team, CSUDH finished with 57 kills, 48 assists, 83 digs, 22 block assists and nine service aces.
