SAN MARCOS, Calif. – No. 16 Cal State Dominguez Hills extended its winning streak to six matches after earning a 3-1 road victory over Cal State San Marcos Friday night at The Cage.
The Toros struck first in the eighth minute when Diego Barahona converted a penalty kick to give CSUDH an early advantage. The Cougars equalized midway through the half, but the Toros quickly responded before halftime as Christian Briseño scored in the 43rd minute off a pass from David Politron. Lucas Galarza then sealed the win in the 79th minute with the Toros' second penalty-kick goal of the night.
CSUDHÂ finished with 10 total shots, including five on target, while goalkeepers Keegan O'Brien and Tiago Menezes combined for two saves.
With the win, Dominguez Hills improves to 9-2-3 overall and 6-0-1 in CCAA play, remaining unbeaten in conference action. Ranked No. 16 in the latest United Soccer Coaches poll, the Toros are riding a six-match winning streak that includes victories over three nationally ranked teams earlier this season.
