CARSON, Calif. – Cal State Dominguez Hills put together strong stretches against one of the top teams in the conference but fell in four sets to Cal Poly Pomona, 3-1, Friday afternoon inside the Torodome.
The Toros opened the match on fire, taking the first set 25-21 before the Broncos answered to win the next three 25-22, 25-23 and 25-16.
Bailey Fuches led the Toros' offense with 12 kills on an impressive .476 hitting percentage while adding three block assists and a dig. Natalia Walden-Schulz followed with 10 kills and two block assists, while Camryn Perdue added seven kills and a .375 hitting percentage.
Anna Sanzaro contributed five kills, four block assists and three service aces, and Ava Hurry chipped in six kills and two blocks. Setters Giovannina De Sisto and Jaiden Mojica combined for 37 assists, with De Sisto tallying 16 assists and Mojica dishing out 21 while adding three aces and nine digs.
As a team, CSUDH recorded 47 kills, 44 assists, 52 digs, 16 block assists and seven service aces while hitting .218 overall.
