SAN MARCOS, Calif. – Cal State Dominguez Hills battled through four tight sets but came up short against Cal State San Marcos, falling 3-1 in CCAA play Thursday night inside The Sports Center.
Set scores were 23-25, 26-28, 25-16 and 20-25 as the Toros fought hard to extend the match with a dominant third set before the Cougars held off the late push.
Ava Hurry led the offensive charge with 21 kills while hitting .255 and adding one block assist. Bailey Fuches followed with 14 kills, 12 digs and two block assists, while Anna Sanzaro contributed eight kills, a .438 hitting percentage and one block assist.
Setter Giovannina De Sisto paced the Toros with 46 assists, 10 digs and three service aces, and libero Nina Robles added 12 digs and one ace.
As a team, CSUDH recorded 57 kills, 51 assists, 52 digs, and six service aces while hitting .173 on the night.

Toros returns home Friday, Oct. 17, to face Cal Poly Pomona at 3 p.m. inside the Torodome. The Toros will host a breast cancer awareness match in support of breast cancer research and awareness.
