CARSON, Calif. — The No. 3 Cal State Dominguez Hills Toros continued their remarkable unbeaten run with a commanding 93-47 victory over San Francisco State on Saturday afternoon at the Torodome. With the win, the Toros improved to 18-0 overall and 10-0 in CCAA play, maintaining their perfect season with a dominant all-around performance.
The Toros set the tone early, outscoring the Gators 24-7 in the first quarter. Nala Williams led the charge, scoring eight of her game-high 24 points in the opening frame, while Cristina Jones contributed six points and controlled the boards. Dominguez Hills' defense was relentless, holding San Francisco State to just 7.7% shooting in the quarter and forcing nine turnovers.
In the second quarter, the Toros extended their lead with an 18-16 edge, going into halftime with a commanding 42-23 advantage. Williams continued her stellar play, while Jones and Asia Jordan dominated the paint with timely rebounds and strong finishes. The Toros held the Gators to 33.3% shooting in the first half while forcing 13 turnovers.
The third quarter saw the Toros put the game out of reach, outscoring San Francisco State 27-11. Williams added eight more points, including a pair of three-pointers, while Teagan Thurman scored six points and grabbed five rebounds in the period. Dominguez Hills shot a blistering 65% from the field in the quarter to build a 69-34 lead heading into the final frame.
In the fourth quarter, the Toros closed out the game with a balanced effort, outscoring the Gators 24-13. Thurman, Milan Tuttle, and Jada Sanders each added key baskets, while the defense continued to stifle the Gators, forcing eight more turnovers.
Williams led all scorers with 24 points, adding nine rebounds, four steals, and three assists in a standout performance. Jones contributed 18 points on 9-of-10 shooting, along with four rebounds, four assists, and two steals. Jordan chipped in eight points, eight rebounds, and five assists, while Thurman recorded 12 points and eight rebounds. Tuttle added seven points and four rebounds off the bench, and Sanders scored six points while going a perfect 4-for-4 from the free-throw line.
The Toros' defense was suffocating throughout the game, forcing 22 turnovers that led to 38 points and dominating the glass with a 52-18 rebounding advantage. Dominguez Hills also controlled the paint, scoring 62 points inside while limiting San Francisco State to just 10.
The Toros will return to the road to face Chico State on Thursday, January 23, at 5:30 p.m. in another CCAA matchup as they look to continue their undefeated season.
