CARSON, Calif. — The No. 3 Cal State Dominguez Hills Toros extended their unbeaten streak with a commanding 100-53 victory over Cal State East Bay on Thursday evening at the Torodome. With the win, the Toros improved to 17-0 overall and 9-0 in CCAA play, delivering another dominant performance on both ends of the court.
The Toros took control early, outscoring East Bay 25-13 in the first quarter behind Nala Williams' strong start. Williams scored eight of her game-high 20 points in the opening frame, while Cristina Jones added six points and two rebounds. The Toros shot 61.1% from the field and forced eight turnovers to establish a double-digit lead.
In the second quarter, Dominguez Hills continued to dominate, outscoring the Pioneers 26-11. Williams remained consistent, while Jones and Kya Pearson contributed key baskets to push the Toros' lead to 51-24 at halftime. Dominguez Hills' defense was relentless, holding East Bay to 33.3% shooting and forcing 15 first-half turnovers.
The Toros maintained their momentum in the third quarter, extending their lead with a 19-17 edge. Teagan Thurman controlled the glass, grabbing five of her game-high 15 rebounds in the period, while Jones added six points to keep the offense rolling. Dominguez Hills capped off their dominant performance in the fourth quarter with a 30-12 scoring surge, highlighted by Amoree Ferrel's two three-pointers and a balanced team effort to reach the century mark.
Williams led the Toros with 20 points, adding six assists, eight steals, and two rebounds. Jones contributed 17 points and six rebounds, while Asia Jordan chipped in 12 points and one rebound. Pearson tallied nine points, two assists, and three steals, and Ferrel scored eight points, including two three-pointers. Thurman finished with six points and a game-high 15 rebounds, while Devon Lewis added five points and seven assists.
The Toros' defense forced 29 turnovers, which they converted into 41 points, and they dominated the glass with a 42-36 rebounding advantage.
Cal State Dominguez Hills will return to action on Saturday, January 18, when they host San Francisco State at 1 p.m. in another CCAA matchup at the Torodome.
