LOS ANGELES, Calif. — The Cal State Dominguez Hills Toros fought battled in Los Angeles, but ultimately fell 3-0 to the Cal State LA Golden Eagles.
The Toros registered seven shots, two of which were on target, but Cal State LA's defense held firm. The Toros had early opportunities, including a shot by
Alyssa Edwards in the 19th minute that missed to the right, followed by a low attempt from
Taya Bohenko in the 24th minute, saved by Cal State LA's goalkeeper.
Defensively, the Toros worked hard to limit Cal State LA's attack. Goalkeeper
Gianna Stanek made two key saves in the first half, including a close-range shot from the Golden Eagles in the 12th minute. However, Cal State LA broke through in the 32nd minute with a free kick goal and added a second just before halftime.
In the second half, Cal State Dominguez Hills continued to push, with
Fatima Arnold firing two shots, including a 76th-minute attempt that went over the crossbar. Her 82nd-minute shot on goal was saved by Cal State LA, preventing the Toros from closing the gap.
Kaila Tone also tried to spark a comeback with a shot in the 66th minute, but it went wide left. Cal State LA sealed the game with a third goal in the 65th minute.
The Toros are on the road next week as they take on Stanislaus State Friday, October 4
th at 7pm in Turlock.
