BELLINGHAM, Wash. — The Cal State Dominguez Hills Toros fell 2-1 to Western Washington University in a non-conference matchup on Friday night. Despite a strong second-half effort, the Toros couldn't overcome a two-goal deficit set by the Vikings.
Western Washington opened the scoring in the 24th minute when they scored first goal of the game to give WWU the 1-0 advantage.The Vikings extended their lead in the 60th minute with another goal make it 2-0.
The Toros responded just four minutes later, narrowing the deficit to 2-1 with Mikey McKibbin's fourth goal of the season.
Gavin Brummer dribbled into the box and briefly lost control before recovering the ball and setting up McKibbin, who finished confidently in the middle of the net.
Despite creating chances late in the match, Cal State Dominguez Hills couldn't find an equalizer, dropping their second match of the season.
The Toros return home to take on Point Loma Thursday, September 19th at 5pm.
