NAMPA, Idaho – The No. 6 seed Cal State Dominguez Hills Toros showcased their offensive tenacity as they downed their first NCAA West Region opponent No. 3 seed CUI 7-1.
The game started off with
Jay Ross delivering a clutch double down the left field line, bringing
Faith Hernandez home and setting the tone for the Toros' performance. As the innings progressed, the Toros continued to dominate the bases as
Alex Davis took advantage of a wild pitch to score a run that was followed by
Samantha Kwiatkowski across the plate while Ayala took third base.
Heading into the later innings, Ross once again made her presence felt, this time with a powerful homer to center field, adding another run to the Toros' tally. Despite a late push from Concordia in the sixth inning, the Toros remained resilient, maintaining their advantage.
In the seventh inning, the Toros sealed the deal with a series of decisive plays. Hull's timely single to center field, followed by Davis' sharp hit down the right field line, allowed the Toros to add crucial runs to their total, securing a commanding 7-1 victory.

Mariah Ramirez secured her 23
rd win on the season as she struck out six batters, and kept the Golden Eagles to six hits, a single run and zero walks.
With this impressive performance, the Toros return to the field tomorrow May 10
th as they play the winner of game two.
