BELLINGHAM, Wash. – In game one of the NCAA West Super Regional, the Cal State Dominguez Hills Toros suffered a narrow defeat against the Western Washington University Vikings with a final score of 4-3.
After the Vikings hit a home run to put a run on the board, the Toros took the lead in the third inning, rallying behind a powerful three-run homer from
Kaylee Hull, which also scored
Mariah Ramirez and
Jay Ross, pushing the score to 3-1. This big hit breaks the school record in career RBIs as Hull now has 129 career RBIs. The previous record was held by Emily McEwen (127 RBIs).
However, the Vikings clawed back into the game in subsequent innings. Despite the Toros maintaining a tight defense, the Vikings managed to tie the game in the sixth inning and took a one-run lead in the seventh off a bases-loaded walk to win the game 4-3.
The Toros return to Viking Field tomorrow as they look for two wins against the Vikings to advance to the NCAA Championship Series. First pitch for game one is set for 12pm.
