Toros Force Early End In Doubleheader Sweep Of No. 16 Concordia

CARSON – The Cal State Dominguez Hills Toros swept the No. 16 Concordia University Golden Eagles after forcing an early end in game two of their doubleheader.

Game One

In the first game of the doubleheader, Julisa Gomez set the tone early with a clutch single to left field, driving in a run and giving the Toros an early lead. The Toros continued to pile on the runs, with Samantha Kwiatkowski's double in the third inning driving in two more runs. Although Concordia managed to respond with a solo home run in the fifth inning, the Toros maintained control, adding two more runs courtesy of Gaby Gandara and another RBI single from Gomez. The Toros secured a convincing 5-1 victory in the opener.

Game Two

In the second game of the doubleheader, the Toros continued their dominance, overwhelming Concordia with their offensive onslaught. After Concordia took an early lead, the Toros quickly responded with Jay Ross and Mariah Ramirez driving in runs in the third inning to take the lead. The Toros extended their advantage in the fourth inning, with Ross drawing a walk to bring in another run before Kaylee Hull's double cleared the bases, driving in three more runs. Gomez added to the Toros' lead with a two-RBI single in the fifth inning, further solidifying their control. Despite a late rally from Concordia, the Toros' lead proved insurmountable. Mariah Rico's late homer sealed the deal, securing a commanding 10-2 victory for the Toros in the second game, completing the doubleheader sweep.

The Toros are on the road on Thursday, April 11th as they face Biola University in doubleheader set for a 1pm start.
