CARSON – In a commanding display of offensive firepower, the Cal State Dominguez Hills Toros overwhelmed the Cal State Monterey Bay Otters with an 18-5 victory.
The game was marked by the Toros' relentless attack from the very first inning, where they initiated scoring through a groundout by
Alex Sepulveda and a sacrifice fly by
Anthony Accordino, quickly leading 2-0.
The Otters briefly narrowed the gap in the second inning, making it 2-1 through a groundout RBI. However, the Toros responded vigorously in the same inning with
Noah Karliner driving in a run followed by an unearned run due to a wild pitch, extending their lead to 4-1.
As the game progressed, the Toros continued to build their advantage with key hits, including a third-inning triple by
Grant Decatrel and a home run by Sepulveda in the fourth, pushing the score to 8-2. Decatrel's batting was particularly impactful, contributing significantly across multiple innings.
The Otters attempted a comeback in the sixth with a double driving in two runs, but the Toros' offense proved too much, especially in the eighth inning where they exploded for 10 runs. This inning saw contributions from nearly the entire lineup, highlighted by Karliner's three-run homer and additional runs batted in by
Trey Winget and
Brock Denbo.
Pitcher
Evan Vazquez delivered a gritty performance on the mound to secure his second win of the season, improving his record to 2-3. Over 5.1 innings pitched, Vazquez faced 29 batters, to secure five strike outs while surrendering eight hits.

th with first pitch set for 3pm.
