Toros Fall to CSUSB in Extra Innings, 3-4

CARSON- In a tightly contested matchup that went into extra innings, the Cal State Dominguez Hills Toros narrowly fell to Cal State San Bernardino, with a final score of 4-3.

The Toros came out swinging in the first inning, with Trey Winget delivering a two-RBI single to right center that brought Noah Karliner and Jeffrey Ray across the plate. Not resting on their laurels, Garet Crenshaw added another run for the Toros with a sacrifice fly, allowing Anthony Accordino to tag up and score, pushing the Toros ahead to a 3-0 lead early in the game.

The scoreboard remained unchanged through eight innings, thanks to a combination of solid pitching and tight defense from both teams. However, the ninth inning saw a turn of events as the Coyotes rallied back.

In the ninth inning the Coyotes would first cross the plate with a hit-by-pitch as the bases were loaded. A walk then caused the Coyotes to score again bringing the score to 3-2. CSUSB would then have a sacrifice fly that would tie the game 3-3, sending it to extra innings.

In the top of the tenth, the Coyotes would take the lead with a single up the middle driving in a go-ahead run, making the score 4-3.

Despite the Toros strong start and holding the lead for most of the game, the game ended in a 4-3 victory for Cal State San Bernardino.

Starting pitcher Brian Kraft delivered an exceptional performance on the mound, showcasing his pitching prowess. Over 8.1 innings, allowed just six hits and two earned runs, while striking out eight batters.

The series between the Toros and the Coyotes will continue tomorrow Saturday, March 23rd with a double header starting at 12pm.
