Toros Fall In Battle Against Cal State East Bay, 75-65

CARSON – The Cal State Dominguez Hills Toros faced a tough battle against the Cal State East Bay Pioneers, ultimately falling 75-65.
 
With this loss, the Toros remain in first place in the CCAA conference with an overall record of 18-4 and CCAA record of 13-3. The Pioneers rise to overall 14-8 and 10-6 in CCAA play.
 
The Toros went into to halftime trailing by 10 points, 38-28. The Toros found their pace as both teams scored 37 points in the latter half. The team's effort to rally and close the gap came up just short as they fell to the Pioneers, 75-65.
 
Jeremy Dent-Smith led the Toros with a stellar performance, scoring 22 points on 8-14 shooting, including 2-4 from beyond the arc. His perfect 4-4 from the free-throw line, coupled with two rebounds, two assists, and an impressive two steals, highlighted his all-around contribution to the team's effort.
 
Alex Garcia also stood out for the Toros, contributing 11 points and six rebounds. Garcia's versatility was on display, adding two assists and leading the game with three steals.
 
Andre Ball added nine points, utilizing his 4-9 shooting efficiency to make a significant impact. His contribution extended beyond scoring, with four rebounds and two steals.
 
Jakob Alamudun and DJ Guest each contributed six points, with Alamudun's nine rebounds leading the team and showcasing his presence on the boards.
 
Jayden Winfrey and Za-Ontay Boothman also made valuable contributions, with Winfrey scoring six points and Boothman adding five points, including a critical three-pointer that kept the Toros within striking distance.
 
The Toros return to the Torodome Saturday, February 10th as they take on San Francisco State with tip-off set for 3pm.
