TURLOCK, California- The California State University, Dominguez Hills Toros were defeated 50-60 on the road as they played the Warriors of California State University, Stanislaus.
With another road loss the Toros fall to 10-11 overall and 7-8 in CCAA play. The Warriors move to 13-12 overall and rank fourth in CCAA standings with a 8-7 record in conference play.
The game started out tightly contested as the Toros would take a 13-12 lead going into the second quarter. They would go 4-15 from the field and have no three pointers made in the first frame.
Going into the second quarter the Toros would use an efficient 6-10 from the free throw line to keep the game close while only shooting 4-41 from the field. The Warriors would have a 30-27 lead going into the break.
After halftime both teams would come out hot defensively as each team was held under 10 points in the quarter. The Toros used free-throws (6-6) to keep the game close while only making two shots from the field (2-11) in the quarter. Stanislas State would use a 21-point fourth quarter to close out the game against the Toros 60-50.
The Toros had 16 points in the paint and 13 points off of Warrior turnovers. While the Warriors would have 20 points in the paint and have 13 points off of Toros' turnovers, and their bench would outscore the Toros' 19-11.
Nala Williams led the way scoring for the Toros with 16 points in 28 minutes, 8-8 free throws, five rebounds, and two steals.
Asia Jordan would be one point shy of another career double double. She scored nine points in 29 minutes, grabbed twelve rebounds, and had one block and two steals defensively.
Malia Goldsmith also had seven points and four rebounds.
CSUDH is back in action next week Thursday, February 8th at home as they take on Cal State East Bay at 5:30pm.
